Safer Schools
On October 20th, British Columbians will be heading to the polls to elect School Trustees. We care about sexual health education for all students in BC and ensuring that LGBTQ+/2S can learn in safe and inclusive spaces.

The information on this webpage was for the October 20 2018 election. We are no longer seeking candidate information and will not be updating it on this page.

We asked candidates for their views on SOGI 1 2 3 in classrooms, and creating safer spaces for LGBTQ+/2S students. Below are what some candidates have to say.

This list is not exhaustive nor complete.

School District City Candidate Here's what they had to say about SOGI and Safer Schools...
23 Kelowna Norah Bowman

"SOGI 123 resource for educators in BC contributes to helping to help our children grow up to be confident, healthy individuals in a society that values human rights of expression."

23 Kelowna Julia Fraser

Trustees are champions of public education, and as such, must guarantee that students feel secure, understood and acknowledged."

33 Chilliwack Willow Reichelt "I fully support SOGI 123. Schools should be welcoming and inclusive places for all students, parents and staff members regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. SOGI 123 is a wonderful resource that anyone who believes that LGBTQ+ people are full and equal members of our society can get behind."
33 Chilliwack Jared Mumford

"I support SOGI 123. I support providing teachers with resources that will help them create an inclusive environment in their classrooms. I trust teachers to make the right decision when selecting resources. I approve and support having SOGI 123 resources available for teachers."
